What makes a bollard heavy-duty?

Thicker steel and a stronger build. It takes more force to bend, cut or lever out, which matters most for heavier vehicles that can push harder against a post.

Is a heavy-duty bollard anti-ram?

"Anti-ram" usually describes bollards crash-tested to standards like PAS 68 for commercial sites, shopfronts and public spaces. Our heavy-duty bollard isn’t crash-tested. It’s built for home driveways: to resist being rammed, levered or cut by someone trying to drive a car away.

Who needs a heavy-duty bollard?

If you drive a high-value car, a 4x4 or a van, or cars have been taken on your road before, heavy-duty is the safer choice. For most other drives, a standard telescopic bollard does the job.

Can a bollard stop a truck?

Crash-tested commercial bollards are designed to stop trucks at speed. A driveway bollard is designed for a different job: stopping your car being driven off the drive. A heavy-duty post makes that much harder, even with a bigger vehicle.
