What’s included in the fitted price?

Everything: the bollard, digging out, setting the sleeve in concrete, proper drainage so rainwater drains away, making good around it, taking all the waste away so your drive is left spotless, and a handover so you know how it works. For mains-powered automatic bollards, the wiring is included too.

Can the price change on the day?

No. The fitted price we give you is the price you pay. It never changes on the day.

Do you charge for travel?

No. There’s no travel charge, wherever we fit.

Can I spread the cost?

Yes. You can pay in 3 interest-free instalments with Klarna on any of our bollards. A £799 telescopic post, for example, is 3 × £266.33. 18+, UK residents only. Subject to status. Borrowing more than you can afford or paying late may affect your credit.

Do I pay a deposit?

If you book through the calendar in our online quote tool, we take a £240 deposit. If you book by phone, we take a 30% deposit, or you can pay in full upfront by card. Deposits are refundable if you cancel at least 48 hours before your installation.

When do I pay the balance?

On the day of your installation, once the job is finished and we’ve handed over.

Can I buy a bollard without fitting?

Yes. Every bollard can be bought supply-only through our secure online checkout. We recommend having it fitted, because a bollard is only as strong as its installation.

Installation

How soon can you fit my bollard?

Usually within 3 days of booking, and often the next day.

How long does installation take?

Around 1–2 hours per bollard. We show you how it works before we leave.

Which driveway surfaces can you fit into?

Almost any: block paving, tarmac, concrete, resin and gravel. On block paving we lift and relay the blocks; on other surfaces we cut a neat opening and make good around the sleeve.

Will a bollard damage my driveway?

No. We cut a neat hole just big enough for the sleeve, so the post sits flush when it’s down, and we make good around it. We take all the waste away and leave your drive spotless.

Do I need planning permission?

Usually not, for a bollard on your own private drive. Check with your council first if your home is listed, in a conservation area, or the drive is shared.

Choosing a bollard

Which driveway bollard is best for me?

For most homes, a telescopic security post. Choose heavy-duty for high-value cars, 4x4s and vans; lift-assist or automatic if you use the drive several times a day; and a fold-down post if you only need to stop people parking.

Do I need a security post or a parking post?

A security post stops your car being stolen: thicker steel, a stronger lock and a sleeve set deep in concrete. A parking post stops people parking on your drive or in your bay, and costs less.

Which of your bollards are Sold Secure rated?

Our heavy-duty post is the Marshalls Rhino RT/R8/HD, which is certified Sold Secure Gold.

Do you sell Rhino bollards?

Automatic bollards

Do automatic bollards need a power supply?

Not always. Our DriveGuard Automatic is battery-powered, so there’s no cable to run to your house. Mains models like the BFT Stoppy are wired in by your installer as part of the price.

Automatic bollards →
How do I raise and lower an automatic bollard?

With a remote, like a garage door. The DriveGuard Automatic comes with two remotes, so a second driver in the house has their own.

Do automatic bollards need servicing?

Like any machine with moving parts, they benefit from it. The DriveGuard Automatic price includes servicing, and our BFT Stoppy bollards come with a 36-month warranty.

Security & insurance

Do bollards stop keyless car theft?

They don’t stop a thief getting into your car, but they stop the part that matters: driving it away. A locked post in front of the car takes the getaway away, however the thief got in.

Will a bollard lower my car insurance?

It depends on your insurer. Some take approved physical security into account, and some of our customers tell us their premium came down after fitting one. We can give you the product details and Sold Secure certificate your insurer may ask for.

What is the Gold Guarantee?

If thieves break through your Wentworth security bollard to take your car within 12 months, we refund your installation in full. The full terms are on our guarantee page.

Parking

How do I stop people parking on my drive?

A fold-down or telescopic parking post. Locked upright when you’re out, folded or lowered when you’re home. Parking on a private drive is usually a civil matter, so a post is the quickest fix.

Can I put a parking post in my allocated bay?

Usually, yes, as long as the bay is yours. At flats, check your lease or ask the management company first. A post can’t go on the public road or pavement.
